WOMEN AND ALCOHOL

Over the years,drinking of alcohol has been rampant whereby one in every three beer drinkers,one is a woman. The rise has been credited to changing role of the woman in the society,sexual abuse and least of all to help strengthen the beer industry despite the fact that men and society as well, have labored greatly under the notion that women should not take beer.

We have been seeing women protesting in some parts of the country about men taking too much of alcohol and forgetting that they are married. Alcohol can be harmful to anyone. The only difference that is there between alcohol consumption in women and in men is that in Africa alcohol is highly taken as a man thing. However, we have seen most affected children or families by alcohol where both parent especially mothers. This brings a lot of trouble in the society and it should be solved. We need to fight it out especially when we talk of being alcoholic.

T here is no official figure for how many women currently take alcohol professionally but its estimated that  nearly 45% of which you don't have to look hard to find them  more and more are pulling seats and ordering their favorite alcoholic drinks in local entertainment joints.Most of these drinkers are aged between 21-30years old.Women aged 50 and above are also taking up alcohol.

 According to African tradition,uptake of alcohol by women is highly condemned and associated with breaking the rules of an African woman whose responsible for taking care of the family.

Most women who don't take beer have one of two reasons. The first is the incredibly sexist marketing that brewing companies use-that is semi-nude models used to advertise.The other reason women commonly give for not liking beer is that, to them, that beer simply does not taste good.

Condemning alcohol uptake in women is associated with behavioral changes that encompasses a woman when they get drunk. It tends to stimulate women through possessing strange behaviors which to some extent are hard to control.They have a different response to alcohol intoxication. Studies have shown that acute alcohol consumption tends to cause increased libido in women, this in turn causes an increased interest in sex.

Woman are  vulnerable to sexual harassment when drunk because alcohol increases sexual arousal and desire, although it does lower the physiological signs of arousal making them different from men.They report a greater sexual arousal with increased alcohol consumption as well as increased sensations of pleasure during orgasm.

Alcohol has also played a role in numerous divorce cases. When a woman experiences alcohol problems, the negative effects of drinking exert a toll (anger and regret) not only to her, but also on their partner and other family members.Anytime there is alcoholism in marriage, the stress and strain between the couple is felt by the children. Children who grow up in alcoholic homes have a great deal of emotional scars they carry with them into adulthood. When a woman experiences alcohol problems, the negative effects of drinking exert a toll, not only to her, but also on their partner and other family members.
